Social Media
Over the past few years, social media marketing has become increasingly popular and is now used by a huge amount of people. These people have the potential to become your customers.
Here is a summary of the three most widely used social media channels:
Facebook has over 800 million users worldwide. Because it is so widely used, it has become an exceptionally useful and effective way to communicate with your customers: it can be used to communicate with other businesses or provide cross-promotional opportunities, not to mention its paid advertising, which can be focused on your target demographic.
Facebook also offers a comprehensive Insights program which provides valuable data on campaign effectiveness.
Twitter has over 500 million active users worldwide. On Twitter you ‘follow’ people, and gain ‘followers’ yourself. It allows users to send out and read Tweets – a 140 character message which can include links and attached photos or videos.
Because of the brevity of the medium, Twitter is an extremely fast-moving media channel; it takes quite a bit to keep up! Twitter provides you with the opportunity to put across short, snappy pieces of information to people who have shown interest in your company, and build real, valuable interactions with potential clients or consumers. It can also be an effective forum for customer support.
YouTube
YouTube is by far the most widely used video sharing platform online, with over 490 million unique users every month. Believe it or not, it’s not just for watching videos of kittens: by providing online content in video format, you can access a global market.
YouTube videos don’t have to be big-budget productions: how-tos and guides can be made quickly and cost-effectively, and even photo slideshows can provide additional content which can draw in a new market.
As an example, we helped one of our recent clients product a simple video of their product in action, which was then uploaded to the channel and integrated into the company website. The company now gets more global sales enquiries through YouTube than any other channel.
