Kit keeps things ticking over at Creatomatic and is by far and away the name most people ask for when calling the office.
A talented, time-served and extremely experienced web designer, Kit has worked in the industry since 2001: he’s been a freelancer, a Creative Director and lectured in Web Design & Development. Kit co-founded Creatomatic in 2012.
What Kit does
Kit shares responsibility with James for the day-to-day running of Creatomatic. His role covers project and account management, along with specialist design and development work, and quality control within the company.
Out of work, Kit spends most of his time taxiing his three daughters around their various extra-curricular activities. He occasionally gets time to build things too – he’s currently working on a wood-fired sauna – and runs about the countryside on a variety of garage-project motorcycles.
Having worked in internet sales and marketing for over 15 years, James brings a solid understanding of what is required to run a successful business online to our clients.
A co-founder of Creatomatic James is now mainly responsible for business development, client services and SEO.
What James does
James is usually the first person you’ll meet with at Creatomatic. He puts together development plans, strategy and marketing proposals, as well as dealing with customer service and online marketing – he’s responsible for ensuring your website meets the needs of both you and your users, whilst keeping ahead of the curve with Google.
Outside of work, James is a mountain biker, motorcyclist and snowboarder – ticking off most of the Web Designer cliches…
Web Designer & Mobile Specialist
Chris joined Team Creatomatic right from the very offset – his payroll number is #1 – having first appeared on our radar as a former student during Kit’s lecturing days. In this time he’s taken everything Kit, James, our clients and the ever-changing industry has thrown at him all in his stride.
A true linchpin in all that we do.
What Chris does
Originally hired as our junior designer, Chris is now involved in almost every project that passes our doors. Though mainly kept busy turning designs into live, functioning websites his role has evolved to include project management, client support and heading up things on our mobile/responsive front.
Out of work Chris’ loves include archery, his cards and – as of 2017 – his wife. We’ll let you choose the pecking order.
A brilliantly talented graphic and web designer, Paul brings a decade and a half’s experience in creating beautiful, clean web and logo concepts.
Having joined us in 2015 after a long standing working relationship that’s stretched back well over ten years, Paul immediately revolutionised our game on all things graphic & design.
What Paul does
Paul deals with all front end web & graphic design, working directly with clients to turn their ideas into beautiful, functional websites, logos and printed media.
Out of work he’s the Vice Chairman of Langholm’s annual Muckle Toon Adventure Festival and can normally be found out on two-wheels exploring the hills & trails surrounding Langholm.
Lead Developer and Server Administrator
A hugely talented programmer and problem solver, James has an outstanding ability for seeing (and then creating) simple, efficient solutions to complex problems.
Initially joining us as a freelancer, James joined us full time in early 2013 and has been our lead technical developer ever since. Rarely a week passes without something brilliant emerging from his code-dungeon at the other end of the office.
What James does
As our in-house developer James is in charge of custom build jobs, hand coding systems to client’s unique specifications, as well as writing custom WordPress modules and server management scripts.
He also keeps a watchful eye on our servers and security systems to make sure they’re all ticking over smoothly.
A keen hill-walker and explorer, James is often found out in the wilderness in his spare time, climbing hills and mountains whilst helping with the upkeep of local bothies too.
Alex joined the ranks in May 2017, immediately bolstering both our development and client offerings. A Computer Science graduate, he brings a fresh perspective and has slotted straight into the team with ease. Yet another ‘lucky find’.
What Alex does
While he’s learning the ropes, you’ll find Alex popping up all over the place. Answering the phone; building websites; training clients, developing code and generally rolling up his sleeves and getting stuck into a bit of everything.
Iona St Joseph
Copywriter & PR
We met Iona after developing a new logo and brand for her partner’s shepherding business and hired her on the spot. A truly talented writer, with a solid grasp of online PR and marketing makes for an extremely useful lady to have on board. Iona normally works with us remotely, but is always on the end of an email when needed.
What Iona does
Iona is our go-to-girl for copywriting and content creation.
Working with the design and development team, Iona builds content strategy plans and nurtures our clients to extract the basics, before writing top-class, search engine-friendly copy that’s informative and easy to read as well as comprehensive enough to encourage sales and enquiries from across the board.
Much as Paul and James M may (*do) protest otherwise, Iona’s also (easily) the best rugby player on the team too.
