Brand and identity, tourism
Langholm Explore and Discover
We were delighted to be involved in the rebrand project for Langholm, helping to support the town’s regeneration by creating memorable brand and design assets.
The brief
Langholm Explore and Discover wanted a rebrand to harmonise its rich history with its modern identity, requiring a versatile visual system spanning digital platforms, and printed materials. The new design should encapsulate Langholm’s essence, employing a palette of earthy tones and vibrant accents inspired by local landscapes, with a mix of classic and contemporary typography. The goal was to create a cohesive, inclusive, and emotionally resonant brand narrative.
Our approach
At the heart of the brand is a profound sense of community. The logo weaves together multiple elements, capturing the essence of Langholm’s close-knit community and the unity that binds the town together.
Inspired by Langholm’s rich textile heritage, the colour scheme pays homage to the ‘Muckle Toun Tartan’. This unique palette draws inspiration from the town’s history, events, and geographical features, creating a harmonious representation of what makes Langholm truly special and incomparable.
The Client
The Langholm Alliance is an umbrella community organisation approved by Scottish ministers to oversee the economic regeneration of the town of Langholm. The vision was for Langholm to be an even better place for people to stay, work, and visit. By 2030, Langholm will be a celebrated hub for small business, quality textiles, a renowned visitor destination for its natural environment, its rich heritage, and its quality produce.
From the client
“With so much focus on tourism in the South of Scotland driven by industry experts, the need for a unique brand identity is key for Langholm to be recognised as a destination for visitors who play an important part in contributing to the local economy.”
