Managing Brand Renewal for Yakkt
The Brief
Adventure brand Yakkt – trading at the time as Trekk – came to us with the kind of brief we love at Creatomatic.
As a well established specialist van conversion equipment supplier – in a highly competitive market – they needed to upgrade their website design and to support an industry-first 3D product design system and maintain their competitive edge and we were eager to help.
Opportunities
The system they were looking to use, 360º product design – iONE360 – wasn’t one we’d worked with in the past but we were up for the challenge. Before we signed off on the project specification, we met with the developers to ensure that the system would be fit for purpose and work with WooCommerce, our eCommerce platform of choice to make sure that it would all work seamlessly for the customers.
Commissioning a project of this scale as a small company can be challenging, so we took care to put together a careful schedule for project management, with a clear plan of action, milestones and tasks to check off as we worked through design and development.
Half way through the project, we supported their team to rebrand as they changed their trading name of Trekk to Yakkt. We had to make sure that we launched the new website and brand in a way that wouldn’t affect existing search engine rankings or confuse existing customers.
On launch, we mapped redirects from the incumbent Trekk Vans domain name and individual pages to their counterparts on the new Yakkt website. Setting a 301 status told search engines that the content was permanently moved, so that existing customers would get transferred and search engine results pages would update as swiftly as possible.
The finished result: a fantastic new website with increased user engagement and online sales, ready to launch their very own 360º product design in the very near future!
From the client
