The client

As the national governing body for the sport, Scottish Gymnastics carries a significant responsibility. From their Edinburgh HQ, a dedicated team of staff supports a massive community: over 160 clubs and 30,000 gymnasts, coaches, and judges. Their vision is about more than just elite performance, it’s about creating an uplifting, inclusive, and safe experience for every person who steps onto a mat in Scotland.

The challenge

When Scottish Gymnastics approached us in 2023, their digital presence needed to catch up with their physical impact. The ‘customer’ of Scottish Gymnastics isn’t just one person; it’s a parent looking for a local club, a coach seeking resources, an official checking competition rules, and a fan buying event tickets.

Our challenge was to take a vast amount of fragmented information and house it within a mobile-first, responsive framework that felt intuitive rather than overwhelming. It had to be a ‘one-stop-shop’ that could handle high-traffic event periods, secure kit sales, and complex member data without breaking a sweat.

The result

We built a platform designed for agility. At the heart of the site is a creative, map-based club finder, making the journey from interested to enrolled feel effortless. We also developed a secure members’ area that integrates cleanly with the British Gymnastics API, ensuring that certifications and records are always up to date.

The new site doesn’t just host information; it drives the sport forward. We implemented a search tool and a dynamic news segment to celebrate successes, supported by a streamlined digital toolkit that makes it effortless for the team to launch and manage everything from educational webinar bookings to high-stakes national event registrations.
