Get to Know Chris
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?
Don’t wait for perfect. Get it okay, share it, and see what happens.
Progress comes faster when you involve people early, through feedback, their experience and real conversations. In my role today, speaking directly with clients and shaping services around their problems has been one of the biggest drivers of what we’re rolling out at the moment.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I used to play drums in a band and we were signed and quite good. We supported some pretty big bands on tour, played in the US, Europe and Australia. We have 6 songs with over a million plays on Spotify and one that has over seven million.
If you could learn one completely new skill tomorrow, what would it be?
Ice skating. I tried it recently and it’s the worst I’ve ever been at anything in my life.
Have you always wanted to work at a digital agency?
Yes. I started off as a freelance graphic designer because I’d heard you could do a thing called ‘freelancing’ where you didn’t have to have an actual job. It turns out it’s way more stressful than having an actual job. From there it’s grown naturally into knowing what people are looking for and what solution best suits their needs.
What’s a project you’re particularly proud of and why?
I loved the work we did for Durrants Holiday Cottages. It was the first project I helped onboard when I joined Creatomatic, and to be part of it from the first handover meeting, through to sign off was really cool.
Coming from a design background, I had rough ideas in my head of what it might look when we were on the first call, and to see the design team take it in a different way that made much more sense was really nice.
It feels so calm and clean, integrates perfectly with their channel manager, and most importantly the client seemed really happy.
